Severe thunderstorm, hail moves through Salt Lake Valley

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Severe thunderstorms rolled through the southern part of Salt Lake County involving heavy rain, wind gusts, and quarter-sized hail.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning around 10 a.m. Monday near South Jordan, Sandy, and Midvale.
Hail-covered roads caused dangerous driving situations and traffic delays on I-15 and I-215. Viewer-submitted photos showed quarter and pea-sized hail as the storm quickly passed.
A second severe thunderstorm warning has since been issued by the National Weather Service, impacting Coalville, Summit Park, North Snyderville Basin, Henefer, Hoytsville, Echo and Echo Reservoir.
60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail is expected along with heavy rain and lightning.
Hail damage to vehicles is also expected.
