BOUNTIFUL, Utah – The Bountiful Handcart Days Grand Parade steps off at 6 p.m. on Friday night, July 20, 2018.
The second largest parade in Utah is a tradition for many families as it celebrates the past, present, and future of the community.
There are 100 entries in the parade, including a KSL float, hundreds of volunteers and thousands of spectators.
The route is 1.8 miles and travels on Main Street from 1500 S to 400 N and then west to 100 W.
Roads around the starting point, Main St. and 1500 S, will be closed around 3:30pm Friday. The rest of the Main Street route closes at 5pm.
Spectators could start saving spots around 7 a.m. Friday morning. Thousands of chairs are already lined up for the annual event.
Kids getting ready for the parade said they’re excited for the candy.
Bountiful Police ask parents to please keep kids out of the streets to get candy. Rather, they say have them wait for the candy that comes right to them on the sidewalk.
