President Nelson speaks to capacity crowd on Seattle Mariners baseball field

SEATTLE—President Russell M. Nelson spoke to the largest gathering he has ever addressed as president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is in Seattle Saturday night, from second base in the baseball stadium belonging to the Seattle Mariners.
At the end of his remarks, President Nelson announced there were more than 49,000 people in attendance, who all gathered to hear his message of faith and hope, delivered right from the infield.
It was an unusual setting for a church meeting, but needed to accommodate the local church members.
President Nelson his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson, and his second counselor, President Henry B. Eyring, joined him.
President Nelson spoke of what he has learned in his 94 years.
“If I have learned anything in my life, it is that there is ultimate security and our only enduring happiness lies in holding onto the iron rod of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ,” President Nelson said.
The infield was filled with 2,000 teenage Latter-day Saints, with church members from throughout western Washington State, filling the stands to hear from their church leaders.
President Nelson will travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, Sunday evening for a similar devotional.
