It’s strictly a Texas thing Sunday, when the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans face off at NGR stadium on Sunday Night Football on NBC.
In anticipation of this weekend’s game, the official NFL Twitter account posted a video outlining the decades-old rivalry between the two cities.
Texas ain’t big enough for the both of ‘em. 🤠@DallasCowboys. Houston Oilers + @HoustonTexans.

Football fans on Twitter had a few things to say about this “rivalry.”
Some were wondering if it was actually a rivalry
Not a rivaliry….
— Brian Carmona (@El_Canatlan) October 4, 2018
Not really a rivalry. Texans are like the little brother lol
— Parker (@parkyduzit) October 4, 2018
Others pointed out the “rivalry” is technically with a different team
The Oilers are not the Texans, they are now the @Titans. Get your facts straight, @NFL.
— Samuel (@SamFarmer_) October 4, 2018
Or is it with the city itself?
I agree Samuel, the Titans will keep the franchise history but the city of Houston has lived that history also, so both have lived the history agains the Cowboys. It will be a good game, best of luck for the Titans, my buddy is from Chattanooga TN my second team is the Titans

Fans came to fight
Cowboys are trash they shouldn’t be getting primetime games all the time
— carm (@cdadario23) October 4, 2018
And they came to refute
Yeah, one team is known all over the world and has five Lombardi’s. The other team, no.

Some even came to throw in mentions of teams that play completely different sports
Why wouldnt you guys tag the oilers? @EdmontonOilers
