Crews Respond After Two Cars Catch Fire In South Salt Lake Carport

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – Fire crews responded Wednesday morning after two vehicles in a carport caught fire, authorities said.
According to South Salt Lake Fire Department, firefighter responded to a home near 400 East and 3100 South just after 5 a.m. where the two cars had caught fire.
The carport was attached to a single-family home with two people living inside, officials said.
SSLFD Battalion Chief Blaine Daimaru said crews were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to the house. It’s unclear at this point who made the call or how the fire started.
One minor injury was reported, although it’s unclear if it involved anyone living at the residence. The person was not transported to the hospital.
Daimaru said authorities can’t make a determination as to if the fire is suspicious at this time. The incident is under investigation.
