PROVO, Utah —If free and discounted flights are some of the perks you’ve been looking for in a career, then Allegiant airlines has the job for you.
The airline announced plans to hire 60 flight attendants who would work at its new base in Provo.
Talent recruiters have been hosting information sessions in Provo to promote the benefits of being a flight attendant.
“It is one of the most fulfilling and fun careers you can ever have,” said Tracy Tulle, senior vice president of flight crew operations. “Flight attendants become like their own sort of family. They get to help create an amazing experience for passengers who are going on vacation and, in return, they get benefits that allow them to travel the world.”
Allegiant said its employees and some dependents fly free on its planes and are able to get “heavily discounted” fares from other airlines. That includes international flights.
Tulle said, “Allegiant’s business model offers flight attendants the opportunity to travel during their shift and be home after it ends.”
“Our flight attendant group is incredibly diverse. Some of our flight attendants are new to the workforce, but many of them are also recent retirees who are finally starting their dream careers. New team members starting flight attendant training really come from all walks of life,” Tulle said.
The airline started flying out of the Provo airport in 2013 and recently announced it was investing $95 million to make the airport one of its operational bases.
That project is projected to create 150 jobs.
Allegiant has already started hiring pilots, mechanics, and ground personnel to support the expanded operations in Provo.
