Caitlin Burchill joined the KSL 5 News Team as their morning reporter in December 2016. She hopes to start viewers’ days with a smile or get them caught up on breaking news that impacts their families.

Caitlin moved to the Beehive State by way of Bangor, Maine. It was a 2,850 mi. road trip she’ll never forget! In Bangor, she worked for WABI TV5 News, the CBS affiliate. There she anchored the 5pm hourly, weekday newscast. She also reported during the day—covering crime, political, sport, and feature stories that were seen state, nation, and even worldwide. She also was the public address announcer and play-by-play broadcaster for the Husson University Eagles volleyball and basketball teams. While living in “Vacationland,” Caitlin won a top enterprise honor from the Maine Association of Broadcasters, as she exposed the startling uptick of female inmates throughout the state. Caitlin was also recognized by the community for her social media savviness.

Caitlin began her career as a journalist at New England Cable News in Newton, MA. She was hired as an assignment editor and associate producer after her tenure as an intern. There she helped the NECN news team cover major news events, including the Sandy Hook massacre, Whitey Bulger’s arrest, & the Bruins’ 2012 Stanley Cup victory.

Caitlin graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine with bachelor of arts degrees in American Studies and Women’s Gender Sexuality Studies. She captained the school’s volleyball team. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Pamela Hoyt honor, for inspirational leadership and sportsmanship during her tenure at the school. Caitlin is proud to call herself a Colby College Mule! She continues to give back to the college as a member of the Alumni Council.

Caitlin grew up in Walpole, Massachusetts—about 7 miles from Gillette Stadium. She’s a diehard Boston sports fan, Cape Cod fanatic, and lovahhh of lobstahhh. Her brothahhh and fathahh fix cahhhs. She still has no clue why she doesn’t have their wicked awesome accent, but it’s probably for the best in this career. Caitlin loves travelling and is thrilled to explore Utah!
