SOUTH JORDAN — A juvenile female barn owl is being rehabilitated after a Daybreak woman found her in her side yard.
Patty Toombs was doing yard work Saturday afternoon when she heard an odd sound coming from near her bushes. A young barn owl hopped into view, but, apparently, could not fly away.
“I felt sorry for the little guy because obviously he got injured somehow,” Toombs said.
Toombs called Division of Wildlife Resources and an officer came to collect the little owl that Toombs had named Charlie. The owl was sent to the Ogden Nature Center, where a worker said she was emaciated, but unhurt. They gave her fluids and say she should be released soon. They said she likely got away from her family too soon.
