SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Investigators are combing through evidence at the home where Baileigh Bagshaw, 15, and her mother lived Tuesday afternoon. Officers say the teen returned to the home, near Redwood Road and 500 North and called her mother to let her know she arrived safely Monday. That’s when investigators say she was attacked as her mother listened.
Officers are now looking for a person of interest in the case, Shaun French, 24. They would not elaborate on his connection to the family.
“He definitely has a connection to Baileigh and the family, so it wouldn’t be unusual for him to be in the area,” Sgt. Brandon Shearer said.
According to court records, French listed the Bagshaw home as his home address in February of 2017. Police believe French was headed east along highway I-80, possibly towards Wyoming, Colorado, or Ohio. Detectives are not yet releasing information on how Bagshaw was killed, or when the attacker might have entered the home.
“Because of the nature of the case, we’re pulling some of the information back,” Shearer said. “We’re not releasing that at this time.”
French may be driving a camouflage-colored Daihatsu Rocky with Wyoming plates numbered 1913974. He may be armed and dangerous.
