SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – There’s a new way to roll through Salt Lake City. Pedego opened its second store in Utah and the first in the Salt Lake Valley on Wednesday at 1095 S. State St.
Pedego offers electric bikes to rent or sell and even has those tent trailer to haul kids.
The bikes’ powerful motors make riding up hills easier and plowing through headwinds a breeze. Bikes can go 30 to 60 miles before they need recharged and that only takes two to six hours.
Co-owners Zach Selby and Shawn Berger say many people are already using the bikes to commute to and from work.
“We have a lot of executives come in and tell us that they’re just sick of driving their car every day in traffic and they live 3 to 5 miles from work. Why not if it’s a nice day just jump on their bike? They can use the throttle. They don’t even have to pedal if you want to. You’re not sweaty when you get there. And when you ride home, maybe you work up a sweat,” Selby said.
Berger rides his electric bike to work from Sandy every day.
To celebrate its grand opening, Pedego Salt Lake City is offering $5 hourly bike rentals until June 2. According to a press release, all proceeds will be donated to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Pedego Salt Lake City is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday or Monday by appointment. You can call (801) 341-2202 or email contact@pedegoslc.com to learn more about Pedego electric bikes and arrange a free test ride.
