SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah – Thundering booms, flashing lightning, and pelting rain awoke many people Monday, as a storm plowed through the northern part of the state in the late hours of the night.
In Saratoga Springs, photos and video captured the storm as it lit up the skies with lightning strikes.
The storm raced in from the west, where it appeared to split into two pieces – one to the north in Davis and Weber Counties, and one further south in Salt Lake and Utah counties.
Okay, 3 more shots. Not as fancy as the first 4 IMO, but still nothing to scoff at. More #Lightning from tonight’s awesome #utwx storm. pic.twitter.com/NIDAngKeq8

Some areas saw pooling water from rain, while others saw little moisture, but a lot of lightning.
Heavy rains also soaked Southern Utah, where monsoon rains created waterfalls off of red rock cliffs, and roads near Arches National Park were closed due to flooding.
The weather is expected to dry out and warm up throughout the week.
