PROVO, Utah – A group of residents living at a retirement home in Utah County has stepped into the world of virtual reality.
Virtual reality and senior citizens – not two things you usually hear together. The group from the Cove Point Retirement Community got to experience a ride Wednesday that uses virtual reality goggles, and a motion simulator.
The ride is called Soaring Southern Utah, and it makes the rider feel like they’re flying over the southern Utah.
It was created by a Utah man, who said its similar to Disney’s Soarin’ Over California.
The residents told KSL they had the time of their lives.
“Sometimes you feel like your feet are going to hit the top of trees or some of these rock pinnacles,” said Laurie Coon. “You feel like you were right there, yes, but it doesn’t make you sick!”
The event also raised money for Primary Children’s Hospital.
