SALEM, Utah – Approximately 5,000 residents have been evacuated to the Pole Creek and Bald Mountain Fires, and thousands more are being affected.

Here are some of the resources for those dealing with the fires (please email social@ksl.com if you know of additional resources available):

Help with animals

The Pole Creek Fire Animal Resources Facebook page is asking residents to post their location and contact information in order to help coordinate help with relocating animals. Find them at facebook.com/Pole-Creek-Fire-Animal-Resources-374776813060077/

The Spanish Fork Police also tweeted that people who need to relocate horses may bring them to the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds

South and North County Animal Shelters are open with limited space, according to a social media post from Utah County Sheriff’s Office. It notes the North shelter can accept goats.

Shelter

The Red Cross shelter is located at Salem Hills High School, 150 Skyhawk Blvd., Salem. The Red Cross has been working with local churches to help house displaced families. For further information, contact the Utah office of the American Red Cross at 801-373-8580.

Mail pickup

Those evacuated in the Elk Ridge and Payson Canyon areas may pick up their mail at the Payson Post Office, 955 E. 100 North. Those evacuated in the Woodland Hills area may pick up their mail at the Salem Post Office at 134 E. 200 North.

Customers are asked to present photo identification when picking up their mail.

If you want to help

Officials are asking people to stay away from the affected areas. Those who wish to help can donate money, items or volunteer time by contacting the Red Cross office at 801-373-8580.

If you have additional information regarding resources for those affected by the fires, please email the specifics to social@ksl.com.
