Gerard Butler Talks ‘Hunter Killer’ With Jimmy Martin

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – “Hunter Killer” stars Gerard Butler as an untested submarine captain responsible for rescuing the Russian president, who has been kidnapped by a rogue general.

Film critic Jimmy Martin sat down with Butler to talk about his latest role.

“I love this man and the challenges that he faced,” Butler said. “to be thrown into the deep end straight off with a crew that don’t really know him, and having to be challenged at every moment.”

Martin noted that Butler had spent some time on the U.S.S. Houston to prepare for the role.

“What did you learn about the process, being on that vessel?” he asked.

Butler said he wanted to make the film as authentic as possible.

“If we can get that, with all this gadgetry, with all these commands, and with this earnestness and focus and excitement … then it’s going to be so exciting,” he said.
