NORTH OGDEN CITY, Utah – North Ogden City Mayor Brent Taylor was killed in an apparent insider attack in Afghanistan Saturday morning, officials reported.

“Major Brent Taylor was killed in Afghanistan this morning. A news conference will be held tomorrow morning. Please keep Jennie and his children in your prayers,” North Ogden City Council member Phil Swanson posted on Facebook.

In addition to serving as mayor, Taylor served as an officer in the Utah Army National Guard. He was deployed in January 2018 for what was expected to be a 12-month tour of duty.
