SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – In her concession speech, Jenny Wilson made one request of her competitor Mitt Romney.
She asked, “Do not forget about us, the people of Utah.”
After her speech she elaborated to KSL TV, “I think Mitt’s a good guy, but I want to see the Mitt Romney who stands up for the people in need and that’s what I heard on the doorsteps.”
For example, she says while people may believe the economy is in a good spot, she says she spoke with many couples who both have to work multiple jobs to stay afloat, “so I don’t think that everyone is benefiting,” she said.
As for her campaign, “We worked every day, we didn’t give up, I guess we could have said ‘hey, it’s Mitt Romney, a well-known name, you know, popular red state.’ We fought and I’m proud of that.”
She believes their hard work will build momentum going forward for Democrats in Utah, “we’ve built infrastructure this campaign, we had an amazing field team, gone door-to-door to bring in every last vote.”
What’s next on the agenda for Wilson?
She says the Salt Lake County budget, laundry, and lawn work.
