Suspected Draper Burglar Caught On Surveillance Video

DRAPER, Utah – Residents in a condominium complex are on the lookout this Thanksgiving for a burglar who has been on the prowl in recent days.
The burglary victims and police think the same man has broken into several storage lockers in the complex and made off with valuable property.
One Draper resident is eager to get his expensive mountain bike back. He hopes somebody recognizes the man caught on surveillance footage who may live right in the area.
“It meant a lot to me,” said Mike Ledesma, who never thought his $4,000 Scott 720 mountain bike was vulnerable while it was locked up in a storage room right outside the front door of his condominium.
“I didn’t think things like that really happened around this area,” he said. “So to actually see that happening here … it’s crazy.”
He’s lived in the Draper Peaks complex for about a year-and-a-half, and he said he locks his doors every day.
“There’s never been any problems here until the last couple days,” he said.
That’s when residents and police suspect the man caught on surveillance cameras first started to jimmy the locks on the storage units, even robbing from multiple units.
“He opens all four of them, grabs what he can grab, and then he leaves,” said Ledesma.
He stole Ledesma’s bike Wednesday in broad daylight. Police canvassed the neighborhood to see if anybody recognized the man on the surveillance video.
“There have been a couple of people saying, ‘Hey, he’s been walking around here around three or four o’clock.'”
Anyone who recognizes the man is being asked to contact the Draper Police Department at 801-576-6300.
