SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Facebook has responded after a New York Times report overnight that alleges the social media site shared more of its users’ personal information than it had previously admitted, and that it had done so with several other tech giants.
According to The New York Times investigation, Facebook allowed companies such as Microsoft’s Bing search engine to see the names of virtually all of Facebook users’ friends without consent.
The report goes on to say Facebook gave Netflix and Spotify the ability to read Facebook users’ private messages.
Facebook responded that none of its partners have been allowed to misuse that data.
