MIDWAY, Utah – This magical attraction is definitely something to see.
KSL TV’s adventure specialists Trace Worthington and Sean Smith traveled to Heber Valley to talk with Brent Christensen, the creator and founder of Ice Castles.
Ice Castles has six locations in North America, and this is the third season it has been open in Midway.
“This is, in essence, made with running water, spraying water and icicles,” Brent said about making the castles. “We grow icicles by the thousands.”
People may recognize Ice Castles from the Alex Boyé and Lexi Walker music video for “Let It Go.”
Brent showed Trace and Sean how his team creates icicles, which they use to create the structures.
Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly and wear boots. The website also suggests substituting a sled instead of a stroller, since the ground is snowy.
The site will open as soon as it’s cold enough, which is expected to be around Jan. 5, 2019. For tickets and more information, go to icecastles.com.
