MURRAY, Utah — Police were called to Fashion Place Mall in Murray Sunday after a confirmed shooting outside an entrance. They were searching the area for three suspects.

Dispatchers with the Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center confirmed the shooting around 1:45 p.m. at the mall on 6191 South State Street in Murray near the east entrance.

One male and one female were injured in the incident. In a video shot by Eidiel Lopez Lopez, you can see a man and a woman on the ground with visible wounds to their legs. Officials said both were transported to the hospital. The male was transported in critical condition.

The female victim was in serious condition. She was treated and released.

The victims were believed to be in their 20s.

Officials from the Murray Police Department said there were three suspects who fled south from the scene.

Police had a description of what the suspects were wearing, dark pants and tan hooded sweatshirts, but did not have their identities. They were looking at surveillance video as part of their investigation.

Officer Kenny Bass from the Murray Police Department said the incident was not classified as an active shooter incident. They were looking into the possibility of gang activity.

Workers and shoppers reported hearing an alarm at the mall, telling them to, “Evacuate or seek shelter.”

In this video sent to KSL, Kristin Brereton, you can see people begin to run as an alarm goes off.

Officers from multiple police agencies were called to the scene. They were working through the mall store by store to secure the area. The mall was expected to be re-opened around 4 p.m. to allow mall employees to retrieve their belongings.

The mall has been closed to the public for the remainder of the day.

Several witnesses have posted on their social media pages after seeing officers canvass the mall, possibly looking for a suspect.

Friends and family members going to the scene to pick up mall-goers should report to the Taco Bell location at 6111 State Street for reunification.

State Representative Carol Moss tweeted that she was evacuated from the mall.

Several stores at the mall have announced closures for the remainder of the day.
