SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A head-on collision at the crest of the 1300 South overpass in Salt Lake City sent four people to the hospital early Monday morning, officials said.
A vehicle with four occupants was eastbound when it crashed head-on with another vehicle carrying a single person heading the opposite way about 4 a.m., according to Salt Lake City Police detective Jess Perea.
All but one of the people involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals, though their condition is still unknown, Perea said.
“It’s amazing so many escaped the crash alive,” Perea added.
The crash closed 1300 South from 500 West to 700 West at the time of the crash. The road was still closed over 4 hours later.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
