Restrictions are in place in Little Cottonwood Canyon. According to Alta Central, all vehicles — including 4X4 — must have rated snow tires. If tires don’t have M+S or a snowflake stamp on the sidewall, then drivers must use chains.
When Little Cottonwood canyon is restricted, all vehicles including 4×4 need to have rated snow tires. Rated means a M+S or snowflake stamp on the sidewall. If you don't have rated tires, you need chains. More 4×4 and AWD vehicles with bad tires get stuck than any other type.
