MIDVALE, Utah – A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle and killed late Monday night.
Unified Police Department on Tuesday identified the victim as Harold D. Phillips, 86, of Midvale.
Authorities said they were called to the area at approximately 10:30 p.m. to the area of 400 West and Center Street.
Police said there is a stop sign on the road the cyclist was traveling, but it’s unclear at this point if he stopped.
“Even if you have the right of way, you need to slow down and be extra careful,” said UPD Lt. Paul Barker. “If you get hit by a car and you’re on a bike, you’re probably going to lose. You’re going to get the worst of the injuries.”
“Unfortunately tonight, this gentleman lost his life,” he added.
