SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The owners of a popular Salt Lake City restaurant said a recent act of vandalism is disappointing, but it won’t stop them from promoting acceptance in the community.
They said the pride flag that hangs at the business, Laziz Kitchen, 912 S. Jefferson St., Salt Lake City, was damaged.
“It’s just kind of disheartening to walk into work and see that when we’ve tried so hard to build a space of community and acceptance and love and above all, good food,” said Moudi Sbeity.
Sbeity owns the restaurant with his husband, Utah State Sen. Derek Kitchen.
They posted on their Instagram, thanking supporters for offering to replace the flag.
“We thank you for that,” according to the post. “We only need one, but we will gladly be accepting pride flag donations to share with any business or person that needs one to proudly fly over their home or place of business.”
Sbeity said this wasn’t the first time this has happened, but it won’t stop him from showing his place of business is a place of love, acceptance, tolerance and community.
