CENTERVILLE, Utah – A Centerville woman found herself in a precarious situation in a Logan courtroom.
While there as a witness, she stepped in to save the life of the man suing her parents.
“He says, ‘You’re a liar. You’ve been lying,’” said Brooke Allsop, of the man suing Brooke’s parents over a farm lease.
“He’s just one of those old men that you just…very interesting, you know. You think, ‘darn you,'” she said.
While the 86-year-old man was representing himself in the courtroom, he started to have a seizure.
“…and I look up and he’s making this sound. It’s the sound when you know something bad has happened,” said Allsop.
Allsop is a certified stroke nurse. In that moment she swung into action.

In courtroom surveillance video, you can hear her leading the charge. The judge even jumped in to take turns administering CPR.
“Your training just kicks in, I guess. And (I realize) there’s no pulse and just say, ‘okay.’ And, I start compressions,” Allsop said of the experience.
“When I saw the video of my mom doing that I’m like ‘Wow, you’re a hero,'” said her 8-year-old son Everett.
While the lawsuit will continue once the plaintiff feels better, the man tells me he’s thankful for Brooke’s actions.
“I think, in that moment. even being a nurse… you just want to help. You can see the best in someone even if they call you a liar,” she said, laughing.
