Student Arrested After Sending Text Threatening School Shooting

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A Skyridge High School student is behind bars after threatening a school shooting.
According to the Lehi Police Department, Benjamen Bailey, 19, texted a friend and claimed he was going to go into the school and shoot people. The text allegedly contained a gun emoji and crying face emoji.
The friend then reported Bailey to police. When officers responded to Bailey’s home, he told them the text was a joke.
Bailey reportedly has a history of mental illness.
He now faces threats of terrorism charges.
