KEARNS, Utah – A woman who is accused of her newborn baby into a trash can in 2014 is set to appear in court Monday.
Alicia Englert was found not competent to stand trial on multiple occasions.
According to police, she left her baby in her neighbor’s trash can two days after giving birth. A woman walking through the neighborhood heard the baby’s cries and then called 911. The baby survived and was released into state custody.
Court documents show that Englert didn’t feed or clothe the child after giving birth to the baby in secret in her parents’ bathroom.
A judge is expected to reevaluate the ruling that declared Englert is not competent to stand trial.
