Company Issues Nationwide Birth Control Recall

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Apotex Corp. has issued a nationwide voluntary recall of birth control pills after it was discovered the packaging may contain defective blisters with incorrect tablet arrangements.
The recall is for Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets.
According to the FDA, the packaging error could lead a patient to miss a dose or take a placebo instead of an active tablet. To date, there have been no cases of pregnancy reported.
Patients who have received the impacted drug should contact their pharmacies and their health care providers. They should not interrupt their therapy. The affected birth control can be returned to the pharmacist.
