OGDEN, Utah – Ogden City Animal Control is investigating a case of cat abuse after a video of a man walking a dog carrying a dead cat in its mouth surfaces on social media.
Joseph Williams said it was him in the video and is apologetic about the incident.
“I am responsible,” Williams. “These is no way to go around that.”
William said he was walking the dogs, one of which was a neighbor’s, in the business depot area of Ogden yesterday afternoon. He said the dogs chased after a cat running up a tree and mauled it to death.
He regrets taking the dogs to that area but said he did so because it was a less-populated open field.
“I never thought it would happen there but it did and I did not have my dog on a leash,” William said.
Williams hoped all pet owners would learn from his experience.
“The dog must be on a leash at all times,” he said.
Ogden Police said animal control officers were not able to say if that cat was a pet or if it was feral. They were able to find the cat’s body in the area of the attack.
Williams said he was cited for walking the dogs without a leash and for the attack itself.
