SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A candlelight vigil was held Sunday at the State Capitol showing support for victims of crime in Utah.
The vigil kicked off several events to commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
One survivor of rape and abuse said this week is about getting resources and help to victims.
“We’re just here to share each others’ stories and to empower everyone else to be able to come forward and speak out,” Sidney Andrews said, “so we can continue to have rights and to be able to pass bills that are important to us.”
Andrews said she hopes sharing her story can help give hope to other survivors.
