Police Search Cottonwood Heights Neighborhood After Report of Shots Fired

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah – Police are trying to find a man who they said fired several shots inside a home Saturday afternoon.
Sergeant Ken Dailey said the incident happened around 1:30 PM. He said a man was at someone’s house near 6500 South 2600 East when there was a dispute and he fired several shots inside. No one was hurt. Police said he then ran from the home.
Officers from Cottonwood Heights, Sandy, and Murray responded to search the area. A Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter searched from the air.
Law enforcement made a reverse 911 call to people who live in the area to let them know what was happening and to ask them to stay inside while they searched.
After a couple of hours of searching, officers cleared the scene without anyone in custody. They did not release a detailed description, but said they knew who the man was and would continue looking for him.
They are also continuing to investigate what led to the shots fired.
