BLOOMINGTON, Minnesota (NBC) – A memorial is growing for the 5-year-old who was thrown from the third floor at the Mall of America on Friday.
People have set up a make-shift vigil at the mall in honor of the little boy who was dropped nearly 40-feet.
Police say 24-year-old Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, who did not know the 5-year-old, or his family, is the one who threw him off the balcony.
He has been jailed on a suspicion of a homicide charge.
The 5-year-old still remains hospitalized.
Thousands of dollars are pouring in on a GoFundMe page to help pay for his medical bills.
People have even donated as much as $1,000 with others offering their thoughts and prayers.
Sources say Aranda could be formally charged as early as Monday.
Court records show that he has a history of convictions for misdemeanor offenses, including two previous incidents at the Mall of America in 2015.
