Police: Man Found Dead In Salt Lake City After Reported Gun Shots

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Police found a man dead on the street in the area of 1000 West and Wenco Drive in Salt Lake City Monday morning following reports of shots fired.
Salt Lake City Police said they received multiple 911 calls at approximately 4:30 a.m. reporting shots fired. When they arrived, they discovered a body lying on the east side of the road.
Authorities said this appears to be an isolated incident.
“It was just scary because this is not the first time that it’s happened,” said Lorena Mota, who came to check on family after hearing about the shooting. “They were all asleep and they woke up super scared.”

“What if one of the bullets goes and hits their home?” she added.
SLCPD confirmed the man died from a gunshot wound.
Detective Jess Perea said the weather hindered the department’s ability to preserve evidence.
“We have to take our time we have to be diligent and very thorough, especially with this weather here washing whatever away,” he said.
Detectives have been going door to door, talking to residents who may have seen or heard something.

Mota said she and her family feel uneasy.
“What if the people are still around here?” she said. “It is scary.”
As of noon, Salt Lake Police have no suspect description or vehicle description that they are releasing. They have yet to identify the victim as well. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Salt Lake City Police at 801-799-3000.
