Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By FrontRunner Train In Orem

OREM, Utah – A UTA FrontRunner train hit a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the tracks in Orem, authorities said.
A spokesman from the Utah Transit Authority said that, based on security footage, it appears two people were crossing the tracks to get onto the platform at the Orem Central Station when the train approached. One person darted out of the way, but the other was hit by the train.
The pedestrian died at the scene, UTA spokesman Carl Arky said.
UTA said the train was going approximately 15 – 20 miles per hour when the pedestrian was hit.
The morning commute will be affected, according to UTA, and riders should expect delays in areas.
