WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Authorities say a man crossed the street to mediate a dispute and was shot four times.
The shooting happened near 3850 Benview Drive in West Valley City.
The shooter is outstanding but Lt. Justin Wyckoff with West Valley City Police tell KSL TV they don’t believe there is any threat to the community.
Police believe the dispute involved some children fighting, and the victim crossed the street to see what was going on and possibly assist.
He was shot four times. One bullet grazed his head, two went in his back and one in the stomach.
K9s from various agencies assisted in a search for the suspect. He reportedly ran on foot to the north.
The suspect is a hispanic male in his 30s with many tattoos, according to Lt. Wyckoff.
