WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — Officials, giving an update, said Cox’s body was located this afternoon. They believe she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and do not suspect foul play
Authorities searched Tuesday for a woman who walked away from a campsite in Southern Utah and hasn’t been seen since yesterday.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the 33-year-old woman, Sarah Frances Cox (Yasuda), was camping with her husband and son in the Little Creek Mountain area, southwest of the town of Apple Valley.
Her husband told authorities she failed to return to the campsite after leaving on foot on Sunday, April 28th. She was reported missing the following day.
WCSO said she may have been headed towards Hurricane, Utah. Deputies and volunteers searched the area for Cox Tuesday, but had to terminate their searching early Tuesday due to thunderstorms.
Officials say Cox is 5 foot 9, about 190 pounds with red hair and blue eyes. She was last known to be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, whit t-shirt, blue jeans and hiking boots.
