SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A man is dead after a home invasion turned into shots fired and led to a car crash Monday night.
Police received a 911 call at approximately 10:20 p.m. of a home invasion in the area of Rendon Court, which is near 300 North and I-15.
“Several men had forced entry into the home, and then the occupants were then chasing the suspects,” said Lt. Dave Cracroft with the Salt Lake City Police.
Authorities then received reports of shots fired and a crashed vehicle about a block away from the home invasion scene.
Officials said they found one of the home invasion suspects dead in the car.
“We don’t know if he has been shot or he was just killed in the crash,” Cracroft said.
Police said several other males in the car fled on foot. Officers reportedly found the suspects at the North Temple TRAX platform and took them into custody.
Authorities are speaking with the homeowner and witnesses who heard the gunfire, but police said some are not fully cooperating with the investigation.
The identity of the deceased suspect has not been released.
