Police: Woman In ‘Extremely Critical Condition’ After Midvale Shooting
Jun 26, 2019, 8:46 AM
MIDVALE, Utah — A woman is in “extremely critical condition” after a late-night shooting Tuesday at a home in Midvale, police say.
The shooting was first reported about 11:45 p.m. near 199 W. 8600 South. Police responded to a call of a gunshot wound that originally was reported as self-inflicted, according to Unified Police Lt. Manfred Lassig.
When officers arrived, they received some inconsistent statements, as well as some “disconcerting” statements from some people who were at the home, Lassig said.
The nature of those statements are not yet clear, but Lassig said violent crimes detectives and a forensics crew had been called to the scene.
The woman was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in extremely critical condition, Lassig said. As of early Wednesday morning, she was still alive, he said. He did not identify her.
Investigators found a weapon in the room where the woman was found, Lassig added.
Police were working to obtain a search warrant to get into the home to further investigate the shooting, Lassig said.
He did not provide further details about the shooting. This story will be updated at KSL.com as more information becomes available.
