Driver Crashes Car Into Jordan River

WEST JORDAN, Utah – Two people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries after their vehicle crashed into the Jordan River early Thursday morning, police said.
The incident happened near 9000 South and 850 West at shortly after 2 a.m.
According to West Jordan Police Department Lt. Dean Waters, the driver reportedly thought he saw headlights in the rwoad and swerved out of the way. He then hit the median, swerved back to the right and then overcorrected and drove off the north side of 9000 South.
The nose of the car went into the river, Waters said, and all the passengers had swim to get out of the vehicle. They then walked to a nearby Maverik and called police.
The driver and the front passenger reportedly received minor scrapes but were transported to the hospital via ambulance. A passenger who was in the back seat took police to the scene of the crash.
The driver was cited for not maintaining control of the vehicle.
