Crews Quickly Knock Down Brush Fire Next To I-215
HOLLADAY, Utah – The right lane of eastbound I-215 at the 6200 South Exit was closed Friday morning after a fire started in the brush next to the freeway.
The fire was first reported at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Cottonwood Heights Police confirmed the fire started near 3000 East by the Cottonwood Corporate Center. Crews responded quickly, and the fire was extinguished by 10:15 a.m.
The cause was not immediately known.
It was the latest in a string of fires across the state that crews have contained. At least two larger fires continued to burn Friday.
In Millard County, the lightning-caused Leamington Pass Fire has burned 250 acres and is 30% contained. In Beaver County, the Skull Flat Fire, also lightning-caused, burned 1,625 acres and is at 75% containment.
