WASATCH FRONT –
Meteorologist Dan Guthrie said Sunday temperatures will be heading into the triple digits for highs over the next two days. Lows in some cases will be in the middle 70s.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a heat advisory Sunday and said it will last until July 24. They said the areas for the advisory are Salt Lake and Tooele valleys and southern and northern Wasatch Fronts.
Heat-related illnesses will be on the rise and FEMA advises rescheduling strenuous activities to early morning or evening if possible. They also released the following guidelines.
- Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
- Wear light weight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
- Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool, shaded location.
