SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – A 12-year-old girl who was reported endangered missing has been found, according to police.
“Asiah Mister has been found safe and well,” according to Gary Keller, South Salt Lake Police Department public information officer.”
She was reported just after midnight Thursday morning after she failed to return home from a trip to a nearby Maverik, police said.
According to a statement from SSLPD, Asiah’s younger brother spoke to her Wednesday evening through social media but hadn’t heard from her since. After an initial search of the area, authorities pinged the girl’s phone, but it was turned off soon afterward.
The community sprang into action when news of her disappearance was reported. Posts about Asiah’s disappearance garnered thousands of shares from KSL TV’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
Keller announced just before noon Thursday that Asiah had been located.
