SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Governer and current ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman Jr. announced his resignation Tuesday.
The Deseret News reports that Hunstman’s resignation will take effect on Oct. 3.
“During my tenure, I have had the high honor of leading hundreds of talented, patriotic public servants who are themselves laboring under extremely difficult circumstances to promote and protect America’s interests,” according to Huntsman’s resignation letter. “They have endured unprecedented expulsions, forced departures, and enormous professional disruptions.”
His letter goes on to say that every American would be proud of the “largely anonymous” team in Russia.
According to the Deseret News report, Huntsman has not ruled out another run for governor of Utah.
