DRAPER, Utah – Police arrested a woman after she drove through a parking lot and hit five vehicles along the way, officials said.
Authorities were called to investigate an unrelated theft at a Khol’s at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when a store employee alerted police to a separate suspicious person in the parking lot, according to the Draper Police Department.
When the officer approached the suspect’s vehicle, the woman began digging in her purse. The DPD officer backed away from the car in case the suspect was reaching for a weapon. The woman then drove away.
Police attempted to pull her over, but she didn’t stop. When the officer turned on the siren, the suspect then reportedly sped away, hitting five cars as she did. Four were parked, and one had an occupant, officials said.
The suspect, identified as Desiree Marsh, then crashed her car, according to police.
She reportedly had stolen a hat from Kohl’s, and authorities said she was also in possession of controlled substances.
