WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah – A Weber County family has temporarily moved out of their house in preparation of getting a brand new home courtesy of HGTV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Dozens of volunteers turned out over the weekend to volunteer with the project, and to watch as Kelly Mayo’s home was destroyed.
The Mayo family has been living in their home for 17 years. In 2016, a rare Utah tornado hit the neighborhood, knocking out power and uprooting a tree in their yard.
It resulted in their basement flooding because a drain at the home no longer worked properly, and lead to several other issues like mold.
The Wadman Corporation and other volunteers came helped with the home makeover for the family, moving items out and helping with some of the construction.
The Mayo family will have their new home in a week.
