Vice President Mike Pence Praises Utah’s Economy During Speech

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – Employees packed into the Merit Medical shipping warehouse Thursday to hear Vice President Mike Pence speak.
Before his speech, the vice president toured the manufacturing areas of the facility.
This is Pence’s latest stop to promote the Trump Administration’s new trade deal with Mexico and Canada. Congress has yet to ratify the agreement.

The CEO of Merit Medical said the medical device company does business in Mexico and Canada and that free and fair trade is critical.
During his speech, Pence spoke highly of Utah and the state’s economy.
“Today Utah has the fifth lowest unemployment rate of any state in America,” he said. “And Utah has been one of the most consistently ranked as one of the most economically dynamic states in America.”
Invited guests at the event included Sen. Mitt Romney, Reps. Ben McAdams and Rob Bishop, former Sen. Orrin Hatch and Gov. Gary Herbert, among other state and local leaders.
