FIRE WATCH: Firefighters Make Progress Thanks To Rain — And Snow

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Fire officials said they made significant progress battling blazes in Utah thanks to Wednesday’s rain, and crews in Emery County had to warm themselves up thanks to a blanket of snow.
Neck Fire
The Neck Fire, burning in Iron County, is now 100% contained. It scorched 19,000 acres approximately 15 miles north of Cedar City. Fire officials believe it was started by lightning.

Meadow Creek Fire
The Meadow Creek Fire near Fillmore is at 90% containment. Also sparked by lightning, the fire has burned about 43,000 acres. Crews hope to have full containment by next week.
#MeadowCreekFire is 90 percent contained tonight and 4,231 acres in size. Jump in containment thanks to hard work by firefighters, coupled with measurable rain on the fire Wednesday.

Mammoth Fire
Finally, authorities battling the Mammoth Fire in Emery County shared a video of the Lone Peak Hotshots as they prepared for a day of fighting the fire — in the snow.
The fire is approximately 75% contained.
