TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – One person died in a crash near 4900 South while traveling northbound on Interstate-215, police said.
Utah Highway Patrol officials said a Honda Accord drove off the right shoulder Monday afternoon and grazed the barrier before crossing all four lanes of traffic and hitting the median.
Police said the driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was unrestrained and died as a result of the crash.
Authorities identified the driver as 42-year-old Alma Chavez on Tuesday and said she had previously lived in Eagle Mountain and Midvale.
Police did not give a cause for the crash.
