SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – One person was injured and taken to the hospital after a Wednesday morning stabbing, officials said.
Officers responded at approximately 5:30 a.m. to the area of 3300 South and State Street.
South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Matt Oehler said officials found a 48-year-old male victim outside a smoke shop in the area. The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Oehler said there is no indication this was a random act and the public is not believed to be in danger. He said the location is a high drug crime area, and there have been a number of arrests of clientele who frequent the shop.
There were no witnesses, he said, and authorities are currently combing through surveillance footage. Police are still looking for the suspect.
