SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Four people have been arrested and accused of exploiting an elderly woman for hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to officials.
The man who allegedly led the scheme is still at large.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Faye Ann Renteria, Terrance Powell, Martell Powell and Rocky Mott on suspicion of exploitation of a vulnerable adult, according to arresting documents. The report states that the suspects convinced an 80-year-old woman to play large amounts of money up front for work on her home and then left the jobs unfinished.
The documents report that one suspect, who has not yet been arrested, convinced the woman he was her fiancee in order to elicit more money from her.
The man is apparently on parole.
The group is accused of conning the woman out of more than $264,000.
